PI Preparation or Schedule Increment Planning can be said to be the pulse of the Agile Release Train (ART). More specifically, it lays the train tracks to guarantee that all rail cars (scrum teams that are part of ART) go in the same direction. It’s close to iteration preparation in Scrum. It’s an expansion of iteration preparation under a broader framework, i.e. ART.

PI Planning

PI Preparation sessions are periodically arranged to take place throughout the year where separate teams within the same Agile Release Train (ART) come together to collaborate on a shared vision, negotiate features, prepare a roadmap, and identify cross-team dependencies. It is a fixed time box for organizing, designing, and validating a complete system, demonstrating merit, and immediate reviews.

The first time you follow Healthily, the probability is, it will start with PI Preparation. This is because it forms the basis for the Scaled Agile Framework. The PI Preparation Ceremony is the cornerstone of the transition and the engine of SAFe. In this post, we will take a deep dive into PI preparation in-depth and explain its significance in Securely by face-to-face collaboration.

Here, some article says First time, did remotely Distributed PI Planning.

As COVID-19 spreads rapidly across the globe, several organizations, including our own, recognized that our next PI Preparation would have to be fully remote and dispersed. Previously, we had spread PI Preparation, where several workers had entered their computers from global locations, but never one where everyone was remote and in their homes. So, how were we going to pull that off?

What are your thoughts? Face-Face Collaboration or Remotely?
